7 UX skills
3 design-system references
Executive summary
UX Atlas is an open-source package of seven UX skills and install tooling for AI agents. Focused skills handle evidence, user flow, information architecture, screen composition, and UX writing without starting the full design pipeline. Three separately downloadable DESIGN.md references compile public design systems: Material 3, Carbon, and Spectrum.
How the skills work
Small, bounded requests use the matching focused skill instead of opening the full pipeline. Screen composition turns an accepted structure into one screen using the project’s existing design system and components; it does not invent a visual system or write the interface copy. Broader design requests move through the guided pipeline: Frame, Define, Scope, Structure, Check, and Surface. The agent pauses for a decision at each stage and asks before implementation. The UX Constitution provides shared interaction and accessibility rules, including confirmation before a skill changes the product.
Put it in a project
Install the package with npm. The install script adds a pointer at the end of the project’s AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md, so the agent can follow the skills in node_modules. Updating the package brings newer skills; an existing project-root DESIGN.md is not replaced. The install page also links to the three separately downloadable design systems.
After install, npx ux-atlas brief adds an optional project-local brief skill that turns an initial prompt into a task Atlas can act on. It is not added automatically by the package install.
Alternatively, download a project folder with the skills, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, and optionally one selected DESIGN.md. That copy does not update. Choosing no design system leaves an existing DESIGN.md in place; the download can include the brief skill or leave it out.
The library is published at atlas.aarondesign.rocks. Changes ship on the changelog.
